Stand up for artists' right to be paid fairly!!!!

As you may have heard, the U.S. Copyright Office has recently set new royalty rates that have to be paid by Internet webcasters (such as AOL and Yahoo) when they stream music. We believe that the new rates reflect a fair valuation of the work or artists. Recently, legislation was introduced in Congress ("Internet Radio Equality Act") that would overturn the rates. Webcasters would not be in business without music, and artists should be compensated for its use. Write Congress and tell them to let the new rates stand.

Write to Congress today!

Send a Letter to your elected officials and tell them that the Copyright Royalty Board’s royalty rate decision was fair and reasonable. This can be done in less than 1 minute if you use the following link from the SoundExchange website:

The MMF fully supports SoundExchange, and believes the new internet radio royalty rates are fair and reasonable. Webcasters said that current internet radio royalty rates would put them out of business when they were first introduced several years ago. Not only did webcasters not go out of business, but internet radio is flourishing. There are negotiations underway between SoundExchange and small and non-profit webcasters, but these small "mom and pop" stations should not be confused with Yahoo, AOL and other internet giants, who are using the small webcasters to fight their battles.
